Nancy J. (Houser) Rupert

Nancy J. (Houser) Rupert, age 92, of Iron Street, Bloomsburg, died at her home on Saturday evening, March 30, 2024 after an illness under the care of Compassus Hospice and her family.

Born in Beaver Township on March 29, 1932, she was a daughter of the late John and Creta Mae (Davis) Houser. She was a 1950 graduate of the former Beaver Township High School and received her teaching degree from the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College in 1978. She was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area.

Nancy was a member of the Davis Chapel United Methodist Church in Beaver Township.

She was last employed at the Keystone Job Corps Center in Drums as a supervisor and teacher, working there for 18 years. Earlier she did substitute teaching in the Bloomsburg School System.

Nancy enjoyed assembling jigsaw puzzles and traveling as well as spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid reader, she enjoyed Bible studies and belonged to a book club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne E. Rupert, on Feb. 8, 1983 and a granddaughter, Miranda Rupert.

Nancy is survived by three children: Mark Rupert, Jane Sweitzer, with whom she resided and Audie Rupert and his wife Yvonne, all of Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, followed by a graveside service at Davis Chapel Cemetery in Beaver Township at 11:30 a. m.
