Nancy M. (Bowen) Milliken

Nancy M. (Bowen) Milliken, age 83, of Hartzell Road, Bloomsburg died at the Milton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Milton on Saturday, May 27, 2023 after an illness.

Born in Boston, Mass. On June 9, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Glenn E. and Vera C. (Willruth) Bowen. She was a 1957 graduate of the South Lancaster Academy in South Lancaster, Mass.

Nancy resided in Madison Township since October, 2002 and previously lived in Silver Spring, Maryland.

She was employed as a payroll accountant for the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Beirut, Lebanon and Kenya, East Africa. She returned to the United States in 1982 and worked in a similar capacity at the Seventh Day Adventist Church headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Nancy was a member of the Danville Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Her pastime activities were playing the organ/piano at her Church, camping, spending time with her family, watching football, music and photography. Her favorite football teams were the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs and Coach Andy Reid. She saw her favorite teams play each other in the last Super Bowl.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bertie L Milliken on June 2, 2018 and by a son, Robert Brierly in 1992.

Nancy is survived by three children, John Brierly of Bellingham, Mass.; Carlita Stokenbury of Jessup, Maryland and Bertie L. Milliken, Jr., and his wife Lisa, West Brookfield, Mass.; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, half- brothers, half -sisters and nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg. Elder Jerry C. Sandel will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p. m. A reception will immediately follow the service at her home, 77 Hartzell Rd., Bloomsburg.
