Nathel I. Hickey, age 95, of 17 Park Place, Bloomsburg, died at her home at 4:58 p. m. Friday, March 26, 2021.
Born in Sugarloaf Township on September 16, 1925, she was a daughter of the late John and Nellie (Hirleman) Meeker. She resided in Bloomsburg much of her life and was a 1943 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. For many years she spent the winter months in the state of Washington where her son resides.
Nathel served with the U. S. Navy during World War II from 1945 to 1948.
She was a baptized Catholic.
Nathel was a member of the Red Hat Society and American Legion Post 273. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting and playing cards.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Hickey on May 20, 1989 and three brothers and seven sisters.
Surviving is a son, John Hickey, Richland, Wash., a daughter, Kathleen Broach, Lower Burrell; three grandsons: Jonathon Hickey, and his wife Erin, Seattle, Wash., James Hickey, Richland, Wash., Sean Hickey, Rolinsford, New Hampshire; two great-grandchildren: Ezra Hickey and Vela Hickey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 10 a. m. in New Rosemont Cemetery, Old Berwick Road, Espy, with Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
