Nelson E. Featherman, age 55, 376 Grant Street, Berwick, died at 6:10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 at the Berwick Hospital Center. He had been in failing health for several years.
Born in Nanticoke on Dec. 20, 1955, he was a son of the late Larue âBeakâ and Ruth (Brown) Featherman. He resided in Berwick since 2000 and previously in Almedia.
Nelson worked as a shift supervisor at UltraPoly, Bloomsburg for 15 years, and was currently employed as a forklift operator for Design Homes, Bloomsburg.
Nelson had many joys in life; including outdoors activities like hunting, fishing, camping and riding his motorcycle; spending time with his children and grandchildren, and working on cars. He was known to help anybody who needed a hand.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: John Featherman in 1955 and Howard âTuckâ Featherman in 2010.
Surviving is his wife, the former Vicki L. Fox-Myers, whom he married in 1998; five children: Amy J. Shaffer, Berwick; Donald L. Franklin, Jr., fiancee Sheila, Bloomsburg; Eric J. Featherman, wife Danielle, Berwick; Brian L. Hartman, Berwick; and Aaron S. Featherman, fiancee Alcina, Berwick; 11 grandchildren; and eight siblings: Mae, wife of Clarence Phillips, Berwick; Harry Featherman, Berwick; Lawrence Featherman, Berwick; Carl Featherman, wife Peggy, Berwick; Cindy, wife of Norman Fowler, Berwick; Raymond Featherman, Bloomsburg; Gary Featherman, wife Debbie, Berwick; and Tim Featherman, wife Sue, Berwick.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Hendrickson-Mooresburg United Methodist Churches, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday.
