Nina E. Rhodes, age 83, 1705 N. Mulberry Street, Berwick, died at 6:10 a. m. Monday, July 6, 2015, shortly after being admitted to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Ralpho Township, Northumberland County on April 9, 1932, she was daughter of the late Walter A., and Harriet E. (Adams) Snyder.
Nina was a 1950 graduate of the former Ralpho Township High School, Elysburg.
She and her husband resided in rural Bloomsburg for much of the life together, and following retirement, they traveled extensively in their motor home throughout the United States, before settling in Berwick 11 years ago.
Nina was last employed in the office of the former Hidlay Oil Co., Bloomsburg, working there for 12 years and retiring about 1988.
She was a former member and Past Worthy Matron of Bloomsburg Chapter 179, Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, knitting, sewing and reading.
Nina was preceded in death by a brother, Walter A. Snyder, Jr. and a sister, Vera Unger.
She is survived by her husband, Chester G. Rhodes, with whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage on March 14, 2015; two daughters: Kay, wife of Thomas Nazarchyk and Jane Miller, both of Catawissa; four grandchildren: Vicki Yackiel, Cody Miller, Megan Costik and Paul Nazarchyk; four great-grandchildren: April Miller, Ryan Costik, Jake Costik and Collin Costik. She was the last of her immediate family.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
