Nirmal (Pandit) Kapil, age 90, of Scenic Drive, Bloomsburg died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, December 30, 2023.
She was born on December 29, 1933 in Kasur, Punjab (pre-partition India) a daughter of the late Ramrakha and Gyandevi Pandit.
Nirmal was a graduate of Punjab University and worked for the Cadbury Fry Corp. for 17 years, first in Calcutta and then New Delhi, India.
She excelled in sports, shooting, and many outdoor activities, as well as chess and embroidery. She was very charitable by nature and looked up to by her entire family, which consisted of a sister and four brothers, as well as three step-brothers and three step-sisters. Only her youngest blood brother remains alive today.
Nirmal immigrated to the United States in 1974 after marrying Prakash Kapil, who was a professor of Political Science at Bloomsburg University until his death in 1985
Her only survivors are her son, Rajesh Kapil, of Emmaus and a brother in India.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
