Ona Ruth (English) Kappas

Ona R. Kappas, age 92, of 619 Buckhorn Road, Bloomsburg, died at 11:16 a. m. Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born in Mount Pleasant Township on March 30, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Samuel H. and Arminta L. (Young) English. She was a homemaker much of her life and had been employed at various factories early in her life.

Ona was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Bloomsburg.

She enjoyed gardening and most importantly the time she spent with her granddaughter.
Ona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Kappas on October 22, 2007 and by seven brothers and sisters.

Surviving is her son, Brian J. Kappas, who resided with her, a daughter Kathy K., wife of Martin Mercer, Bloomsburg, a granddaughter, Sydney Mercer and her fiance’ Noah Cancro, Bloomsburg and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 1 p. m. in Elan Memorial Park, 5595 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, with Rev. George A. Zerbe, pastor of Emanuel Dutch Hill Bible Church officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
