P. Richard âDickâ Dent, age 75, 1530 Main St., Bloomsburg (Lightstreet), died 5:00 a. m. Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Orangeville Health & Rehabilitation Center, Orangeville, where he was a guest since May 1, 2015.
Born in Lightstreet on February 2, 1940, he was the son of the late Paul C. Dent and the late Mildred C. (Naus) Fenstermacher. He spent his entire life in Lighstreet and was a 1958 graduate of Central Columbia High School.
Dick was the owner of Dent Plumbing & Heating, Inc., Lightstreet, since 1961. The business was founded by his father in 1947.
He was a lifelong active member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir, served on the official board, was a Sunday school teacher, and a lay speaker.
Dick was a longtime member of the Scott Township Sewer Authority; a former member of the Columbia Montour Vocational Technical School advisory board and a former president of the Lightstreet âHighlandâ Cemetery, Association.
He was a longtime member and supporter of the Lightstreet Community Fire Co.; the Danville Elks; Oriental Lodge 460, F & AM, Orangeville; and a past president of the Pennsylvania Association of Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Contractors (PAPHCC). He also served in the National Guard for many years.
Surviving are his wife, the former Regina I. Acornley, with whom he celebrated his 56th wedding anniversary on July 11, 2015; his step-mother, Mary C. Dent, Danville; two sons: Fred G. Dent, and his wife Brenda, Lightstreet and Roger M. Dent, and his wife Amy, Orangeville; a daughter: Denise S., wife of the Rev. Ronald S. French, Danville; six grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one step- granddaughter; one step-great-granddaughter; and four siblings: David E. Dent, and his wife Jill, Danville; Carole, wife of Kenneth W. Mills; Linda, wife of Larry F. Creasy; Frank C. Dent, and his wife Connie, all of Bloomsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 11 a. m. in the Lightstreet United Methodist Church, 1640 Main St., Bloomsburg (Lightstreet), with his pastor, Rev. Jennifer Parks-Snyder officiating. Interment in LightstreetâHighlandâ Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Viewing on Friday from 5-7 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Oriental Lodge 460 will conduct Masonic memorial services at 7 p. m. There will be no viewing at the Church on Saturday.
