PATRICIA  A.  KOBILIS

Patricia A. Kobilis, age 76, 1126 Lightstreet Road, Bloomsburg, died at 8:25 a. m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 in the Bloomsburg Hospital where she was a patient for one week. She was in failing health for several years.

Born in West Chester on May 14, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen (Bosworth) Horan.

Her father was a career service man and the family traveled a great deal and as a result her early education was received from schools in Japan and Miami, Florida. She was a 1952 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. She also attended some classes at Penn State University.

Pat was employed as an optometric assistant in the optometry office of Dr. William Weir, Bloomsburg, for 15 years,  retiring when he did, about 20 years ago.

She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg.

Pat was a life member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary where she gave over 8000 hours of service over a period of 26 years. She was chairperson of the hospital gift shop for many years and also was the jewelry buyer. She also volunteered for the Columbia Montour Home Hospiice for a brief period of time.

She was an avid bridge player and at one time was a member of a card club. She was a member of the Frosty Valley Country Club for many years and had recently joined the Red Hat Society.

Pat loved children and enjoyed vacationing in the Caribbean.

Surviving are her husband, Robert J. Kobilis and   a daughter Kathleen P. "Kathy" Kobilis, both of Bloomsburg.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan L. Nesbitt on Feb. 10, 2008 and by a son-in-law, Dr. Richard A. Nesbitt on June 20, 2005.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, remember her by contributing to the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary, 549 E. Fair St., Bloomsburg, PA 17815
