Paul T. Dalious, age 83, 400 E. Hillcrest Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 2:34 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, in the Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care Center, where he was a patient since March 25, 2016. He had been in failing health since December 3, 2015.
Born in Main Township on June 2, 1932, he was a son of the late Samuel J. and Effie V. (Hauntzleman) Dalious. He was a lifelong resident of Main Township and a 1951 graduate of the former Mifflin Township High School.
Paul was employed by the former Magee Carpet Co., for 30 years before retiring in 1996. He also served as a Forest Fire Warden for the State of Pennsylvania for 50 years and was honored by the State for his service.
A member of the Mainville Sportsman’s Club, he assisted in building of the club house. He also belonged to the Main Township Fire Co.; served as a volunteer for the 4-H Club; and was a Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader earlier in his life. He was active with the Bloomsburg High School Band Boosters for many years.
Paul was an avid gardener, growing vegetables and flowers. He will be remembered by some for his little red Farmall tractor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Amy Burnett.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marguerite M. Wagner, with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage on August 16, 2015; five children: George W. Dalious, and his wife Joyce, Bloomsburg; Darla D., wife of Bruce Eyer, Elysburg; Paula A., wife of Ronald Wittenrich, Catawissa; Harold G. Dalious, and his wife Barbara, Chambersburg; Linda G., wife of William Sones, Orangeville; eight grandchildren: Tristan Dalious, and his wife Erin; Tyler Dalious; Kristine Eyer; Denise Wittenrich; Adam Wittenrich; Alexander Dalious, and his wife Sarah; Samantha Dalious; Hunter H. Sones; a brother, Harold R. “Sam” Dalious, Catawissa; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Stephen D. Engelhardt officiating. Interment in Emanuel Reformed Cemetery, Main Township. Friends may call on Thursday from 6- 8 p.m.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the Main Township Fire Co., 2234 Fire Hall Lane, Bloomsburg, PA 17815 or to the PA District Forestry Office, 16 Weiser Lane, Aristes, PA 17920.
