PAUL H. KEITHAN
Loved His Life
Paul H. Keithan, 69, of Numidia, died, more peacefully than he ever lived, Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at home with his wife of 39 years by his side.
He was born in Shenandoah on December 12, 1946 to the late Howard R. and Jean (Hehn) Keithan, the second of their ten children. He was referred to as their Wild Child. Much to his fatherâs surprise, Paul graduated from J.W. Cooper High School in Shenandoah.
He served briefly in the Navy. Upon returning home he worked in various trades and construction where he learned all of his âfix-itâ skills. That made him the go-to guy in his family and the neighborhood when anything broke, leaked, got stuck, etc. He was always happy to help.
He began a career as a long haul trucker in the 70s and loved the traveling. He took along his wife, two of his brothers, his son and his father at different times to see America. He was involved in the Trucker Buddy Program, corresponding with and visiting one class in three different schools. He loved the kids and answering their many questions. He was last employed by Penske Logistics in Tremont when he was stricken with cancer.
Paul loved camping, riding his ATV in the forests and taking pictures of the wildlife. He enjoyed it most when friends and family, especially the youngsters, were with him.
A talented artist; he worked in pastels and acrylics, but excelled at air brushing. He created stunning wooden art called intarsia.
There will never be anyone like him!
He is survived by his devoted wife Shirr (Couden) Keithan, at home; their son Justin and daughter-in-law Ali, grandsons Chance and Tristan, Red Lion; grandson Caleb Cedeno, Durango, Co.; special BFF Gia Kramer, Numidia; brothers Dennis, Butch and Kenny Keithan; sisters Carol Katulis, Betsy Kimmel, Janet Finn, Susie Chuplis, Edie Engleberger, Cheryl Kostowskie and all of their spouses; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Paul treasured every one of them.
Aside from leaving a lot of fantastic memories, his final gift was leaving his body to science. Surviving a very rare spinal cancer for 13 years, science will learn more about chordomas from his gift.
Paul eased out of this life with the compassionate care of Columbia-Montour Hospice.
The family is being assisted by the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bloomsburg.
A celebration of his extraordinary life will be held at a future date.
