Pearl E. Derr, age 96, 22-A Ivey Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 11:08 p. m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Signature Health Care in Scott Township, where she was a guest since July, 2015.
Born in New Columbia, Union County, on December 23, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Leland and Edna (Hoffman) Share. She resided in Buckhorn since 1991 and previously lived in Bloomsburg for 26 years. Pearl was a 1938 graduate of Milton High School.
Pearl was employed by the former Magee Carpet Co., Bloomsburg, for over 25 years, retiring in the 1970’s.
She was a founding member of the Bloomsburg Archery Club and was a state champion archer in 1959; and a charter member of the W. W. Evans Elementary School PTA. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and Penn State football.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy W. Derr, on January 27, 2007; by a daughter, Ruth Ann Derr, on April 30, 2015; by three sisters: Ruth Lupo; Cora Metzger; Leotta Metzger; and a brother, Garnett Share.
Surviving is a daughter, Shirley L. Davis, with whom she resided; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family.
Private graveside services will be held in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, with the Rev. Dr. L. Lee Barnhardt, pastor of First English Baptist Church, Bloomsburg, officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
