Enjoyed baking, especially pies, and hosting Sunday family dinners
Phyllis J. (Bitler), age 91, of Millville, passed away peacefully at 1:20 p. m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Geisinger Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville, where she was a guest since April 16, 2018.
Born in Iola, Greenwood Township, on July 30, 1927, she was a daughter of the late James and Arta (Potter) Bitler. She resided in the Millville area her entire life. She attended the Pine Center and Millville schools.
Phyllis was a long time member of the Pine Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed supporting her church family in every way she could. She was employed by Milco Industries, Inc., Bloomsburg for many years before retiring.
She enjoyed vacationing, baking, scrap booking, annual family reunions and hosting Sunday family dinners. She will be missed by all.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Heacock, on March 13, 1997. His death severed a marriage span of 43 years, having been married on August 12, 1954.
Surviving are two daughters: Melanie, wife of Robert Dworsak, Bloomsburg; Donna, wife of Kermit Mantz, Buckhorn; a step-son, Howard Brown, and his wife Vonda, Benton; four grandchildren: Matthew Dworsak, and his wife Monica, Downingtown; Mallory, wife of Hans Bottesch, Bloomsburg; Eric Mantz, and his wife Chelsea, Binghamton, N.Y.; Austin Mantz, Hazleton; a step-granddaughter, Amanda, wife of David Pultynovich, Mifflinburg; seven great-grandchildren: Emmett and Bryce Dworsak; Declan, Colin and Alec Bottesch; Easton and Everly Mantz; three step-great-grandchildren: Nathaniel and Jordan Caprioli and David Pultynovich; and one step-great-great grandson: Andrew Shakespeare; and a brother Gordon Bitler, Millville.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 11 a. m. in the Pine Wesley United Methodist Church, 58 Pine Center Church Road, Millville, with her pastor Kathy Burkhart and Rev. R. Christian Dunlap, Geisinger Hospice Chaplain officiating. Interment in the Pine Center Cemetery. Viewing at the church from 10-11 a. m.
