Pierce H. Morgan, Sr.
Pierce H. Morgan, Sr., age 78, 500 E. Fourth Street, Berwick, died at 12:12 a. m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he been a patient much of the time since May, 2013. He was in failing health for the past year.
Born in Berwick on January 3, 1935, he was a son of the late Pierce and Clara (Lubinski) Morgan. He resided in Berwick his entire life and attended the Berwick schools.
He owned Morgan's Garage, Berwick, for 45 years, retiring in 2000.
Pierce was a member of the Mifflinville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He enjoyed fishing, especially in Canada and motor cycles. He was a peacetime veteran of service with the US Navy.
He was preceded in death by two sons: Pierce H. Morgan, Jr. and Mark Robert Morgan; and a sister, Ann Laubach.
Pierce is survived by his wife, the former Kathryn E. Yaple, with whom he celebrated his 56th wedding anniversary on May 7, 2013; a daughter, Maryann, wife of Bradley R. Evans, Berwick; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry Morgan, and his wife Carol, Bloomsburg; and a sister, Marion Harman, Wheaton, MD, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his request, there will not be any funeral services or viewing. In lieu of flowers, friends may send a contribution in his name to the Mifflinville Kingdom Hall, Jehovah's Witnesses, 1014 West Street, Nescopeck, PA 18631.
Arrangements have been entusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
