Ralph S. Bucher, Sr.

Ralph S. Bucher, Sr., age 91, of Bloomsburg, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior at 6:10 p. m. Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the home of his daughter, Deborah Barnes in Bloomsburg.

Born in Bloomsburg on November 5, 1928, he was a son of the late Edward and Ada (Stauffer) Bucher.  He was a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg and attended the Bloomsburg Schools.

Ralph was employed by the former Magee Carpet Co., Bloomsburg as a pipefitter for over 45 years, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436 and a social member of the Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273. His favorite activity was sitting on his front porch swing.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, the former June E. Lowell, on March 15, 2009; by a son, Jimmie Lee Bucher, on January 27, 1952; a granddaughter, Celina Galetti, in 2007; a great-grandson, Ricky Rose,  in 2008; three brothers: Harry Bucher, Edward Bucher, Robert Bucher; and by three sisters: Martha Shaffer, Madelyn Moyer and Hazel Kessler.

Surviving are four children: Deborah K., wife of David M. Barnes, Bloomsburg; Lynn D. Hillyer, El Campo, Texas; Ralph S. Bucher, Jr., and his wife Jenni, Bloomsburg; Mary A. Hollman, Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan Keyser, Bloomsburg and a number of nieces and nephews.

A visitation for immediate family and close friends only will be held on Thursday from 12 to 1 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we will be limiting visitors to our facility to ten at one time. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p. m. in the Creveling Cemetery, Old Berwick Road, Almedia, with his pastor, Rev.  Dr. Joel L. Zeiders officiating.
