Ralph C. Moyle, age 88, formerly of Resevoir Street, Bloomsburg, died at 3:30 p. m. Saturday at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care Center where he resided since December, 2016.
Born in Bloomsburg on September 17, 1929, he was a son of the late George F. and Daisy (Yeager) Moyle. He was a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg, graduating from Bloomsburg High School in 1947. In high school he was an outstanding athlete, participating on the baseball and basket ball teams, as well as the football team, of which he was the honorary captain. He scored the last goal of the year, winning the championship game.
Ralph was last employed by the Bloomsburg Area School District as a custodian at the high school, retiring in 1991. Earlier he was employed by the former Magee Carpet Co., for 27 years.
He was a 65 year member of Washington Lodge 265, F & A. M. and also a 65 year member of Caldwell Consistory. He also was a member of the Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Ralph served his country as a member of the U. S. Coast Guard during the Korean War, serving from 1950 to 1953.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Joanne J. Hahn on August 24, 2017; by a brother John G. Moyle and a sister, Violet Ellen Moyle.
Ralph is survived by a daughter, Pamela Drake, Wilkes-Barre; two sons: Matt Moyle, and his wife Nancy, Lightstreet and Mark Moyle, Highspire; a grandson who was raised by Mr. & Mrs. Moyle, Steve Drake, and his wife Kimberly, Mohnton; six grandchildren (including Steve); eight great-grandchildren; and a sister Ruby LaWall, Berwick.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 35 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Gordon E. Smith, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy, officiating. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy, with military honors by the combined veterans group. Viewing Thursday from 1-2 p. m. Masonic services will be held at 2 p. m., followed by the religious service.
