Ralph J. Palmiero, age 92, of 441 W. Main Street, Bloomsburg, died at 12:31 a. m. Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Elmcroft of Berwick where he was a guest for three months.
Born in Berwick on June 2, 1926, he was a son of the late Peter and Josephine (Frank) Palmiero. He was a 1944 graduate of Berwick High School and also graduated from Penn State University. Hae resided in Bloomsburg for more than 60 years.
Ralph was last employed as an agent by the Harleysville Insurance Company and had previously worked for Nationwide Insurance Company for a total of over 40 years.
He was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. He also belonged to Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436; the Garibaldi Society and the Maria Assunta , both of Berwick. An avid golfer earlier in life, he belonged to the Berwick Golf Club for over 40 years.
Ralph was a huge sports fan, especially of the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Berwick Bull Dawgs. His favorite activity was watching his grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed when family and friends would come to visit.
He was preceded in death by two wives: the former Ellen Bredbenner in 1964 and the former Arlene Johnson Fest on Dec. 10, 2001; two step sons: Robert A. Fest and Joseph E. Fest; and by two sisters: Susan Stansfield and Sabateen Palmiero.
Surviving are two sons: Peter J. Palmiero, wife Kerry, Mountain Top; Ralph M. Palmiero, wife Stephanie, Springfield, Va.; a step-daughter, Sister Margaret Mary, SS.C.M., Danville; a step- son, Paul Edward Fest, wife Mary, Georgia; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, by his pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. There will be no viewing at Ralph's request.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St. (P. O.. Box 315), Williamsport, PA 17701.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
