Ray S. Kressler, Jr., age 88, 520 Kressler Ave., Bloomsburg, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 26, 2016.
Born in Bloomsburg on March 12, 1928; Ray was the youngest and last surviving child of the late Ray “Sheff” and Carrie (Hock) Kressler family of 10 children. He resided in Bloomsburg his entire life.
Ray grew up on the Kressler farm, where Sun View Terrace and the First English Baptist Church are located today. The family owned Kressler’s Dairy where Ray worked in his younger years. Later, Ray was employed at the former Magee Carpet Company, and last at G.J. Littlewood and Son, Inc., Bloomsburg, for 48 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a faithful member of the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Bloomsburg; and a life member of the Bloomsburg Fire Co.
Ray loved his John Deere tractors; and enjoyed watching classic Western movies and tv shows.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, the former Dawn E. Lindenmuth, on May 19, 2012; his daughter, Valerie MaGaw on May 4, 2010; five sisters: Helen Kashner Watts, Clair Megargell, June Keefer, Vera Stiner and Ruth Fritz; and four brothers: Frank Kressler, Fred Kressler, Clinton Kressler and Jack Kressler.
Surviving is his grandson, Michael MaGaw, Bloomsburg; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Steve Hummel officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Viewing at the funeral home on Friday from 10-11 a.m.
The family will provide flowers.
