Raymond M. Belles, age 94, 350 Mount Pleasant Road, Orangeville, died at 8:55 a. m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville where he was admitted Tuesday. He was in failing health for the past two months.
Born in Orange Township on May 7, 1919, he was a son of the late Jay Hutchison and Emma (Reice) Belles.. He was a lifelong resident of Orange Township and graduated from the former Orangeville High School in 1937.
Raymond was last employed part- time by the Orange Township Supervisors and earlier was employed by the former Neil Harrison Store, Forks, Orangeville Manufacturing Co. and Magee Carpet Co.
He was a member of the Orangeville United Church and a life member of the following: Oriental Lodge 460 F & A. M. for 65 years; Orangeville Fire Co. and the Orangeville Sportsmanâs Club. He served on the board of the Laurel Hill Cemetery for many years and enjoyed attending the Senior Citizenâs Center meetings at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg.
Raymond served with the US Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ruth L. Thomas on April 25, 2004 and by two brothers: C. Horace Belles and Lester R. Belles.
Surviving are a sister, Anna Margaret, wife of Max Robbins and a brother, Jay Howard Belles, and his wife Leona, all of Orangeville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Darryl E. Kensinger officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville. Masonic services will be held at 9:45 a. m. Monday, followed by a viewing from 10- 11 a. m.
