Raymond A. "Ray" Strausser, Jr., age 61, of 351 East Street, Bloomsburg, died at 4:26 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for nine days. His death followed a lengthy illness.
Born in Bloomsburg on November 6, 1953, he was a son of the late Raymond A. and Nellie Joy (Petrich) Strausser. Ray attended Southern Area High School and lived in Bloomsburg since June, 2014. He previously lived in the Catawissa-Bloomsburg area most of his life.
He was self-employed in the home repair business; and formerly worked for Wilkes Pools, Sunrise Pools, and Bloom Mills, Inc.
Ray liked gardening, fishing and western music.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Adams; and two brothers, Edwin Adams and Ervin Adams.
Surviving is his wife, the former Diane L. Long, with whom he celebrated 12 years of marriage on March 14, 2015; a son, William Scott Strausser, Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter, Rebecca A. Strausser, Mill Hall; two step-daughters: Mindy L. Long, Anniston, Ala.l; and Christine L. Michael, Mifflinburg; three grandchildren: Kailey Michael, Preston Michael and Shianne Renner; a great grandson, Devin OâConner; a sister, Jane Louise Farley, Mifflinville; and a brother, Jeffrey Scott Strausser, Beach Haven.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with Rev. Craig D. Laidacker, pastor of Bloomsburg Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 2-3 p.m.
