REBER L. SLUSSER
Reber L. Slusser, age 86, 2390 Riverview Avenue, Bloomsburg (Espy) died at 11:35 a. m. Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Bloomsburg Health Care Center, where he was a patient since June 27, 2012.
Born in Scott Township on Dec. 20, 1935, he was a son of the late Raymond and Ethel A.. (DeWald) Slusser..He resided in Espy most of his lifetime and was a 1943 graduate of the former Scott Township High School.
Reber was employed as a salesman for Kile & Kile Real Estate, Bloomsburg. He was self employed for many years as a house painter and also repaired sewing machines.
He served with the US Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II and was a member of Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion. He also belonged to the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436.
Reber enjoyed golfing and fishing as well as vacationing in Hilton Head, South Carolina and Canada.
Surviving are his wife, the former Kay Laubach, with whom he celebrated his 30th wedding anniversary on Oct. 2, 2011; a son, Eric M. Slusser, and his wife Kathy, Paxinos; a daughter, Amy Lee Slusser, Milford, Va.; two step-daughters: Sherry, wife of R. Peter Birtley, El Toro, Calif. and Cindy Ralston, Bloomsburg; a step-son, Joseph Ralston, and his wife Birgit, Dumfries, Va.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Slusser.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the Columbia Montour Home Hospice, 410 Glen Ave., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
