Regina I. (Acornley) Dent, age 83 of Main Street, Lightstreet died unexpectedly at her home early Monday, August 21, 2023.
Born in Berwick on July 15, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Albert R. and Eudora L. (Dennis) Acornley. She resided in Lightstreet most of her life and was a 1958 graduate of Central Columbia High School.
Regina was employed at the family business, Dent Plumbing & Heating, Inc. for many years as a secretary.
She was an active and faithful member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women of the Church, a former Sunday School teacher and former Church secretary. She served on the Central Columbia School board and the advisory board of the Columbia Montour Vocational Technical School.
Regina was a member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary and a longtime member of the former Business and Professional Women’s Club. She also served on the board of the Mental Health Association.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, P. Richard “Dick” Dent on January 10, 2016 and a brother George F. Acornley.
Surviving are two sons: Fred G. Dent and his wife Brenda of Lightstreet and Roger M. Dent and his wife Amy of Orangeville; a daughter, Denise wife of Rev. Ronald S. French of Lightstreet; six grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, one step great-granddaughter; two brothers: Gordon R. Acornley and his wife Darla of Lightstreet and Dennis J. Acornley and his wife Sharon of Lebanon, her mother-in-law, Mary Dent of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11:00 a. m. in the Lightstreet United Methodist Church, 1640 Main Street, Lightstreet, with her pastor, Rev. Becky Cuddeback, officiating. A viewing will be held on Friday from 5-7 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg. No viewing at the Church Saturday. Private interment will be in the Lightstreet “Highland” Cemetery.
