Richard J. Bellum, age 69, 490 Scotch Valley Road, Bloomsburg, died unexpectedly at his home and was pronounced dead at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014.
Born in Beaver Twp., Columbia County on August 2, 1944, he was a son of the late Phillip R., Sr. and Dorothy (Buehler) Bellum. He resided in Beaver Twp. for all of his life.
Richard owned his own chainsaw business and operated under the name âChainsaw Manâ. Earlier he was employed with a coal company in Stockton.
He was a veteran of the US Army, and served during the Vietnam War.
Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 699, Nuremburg and a life member of the West Berwick Fire Co.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard C. Bellum on October 9, 2002; and by two brothers: Phillip R. Bellum, Jr. on June 19, 2009 and Henry G. Bellum on August 12, 2011.
Surviving is a son, John P. Bellum, wife Sheila, Bloomsburg; three grandchildren: Brandi Bellum, Chandler Bellum and Chase Bellum; a sister, Virginia Johns, Lime Ridge; and two sisters-in-law: Mary M. Bellum, Espy and Janet Bellum, Bloomsburg.
Graveside services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in New Rosemont Cemetery, Old Berwick Road, Espy, with military honors performed by the combined VFW group. Rev. Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Hendrickson-Mooresburg United Methodist Churches, will officiate.
