Richard W. Harvey, age 80, 1139 Lightstreet Road, Bloomsburg, died at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for two days.
Born in Huntington Township, Luzerne County on January 3, 1935, he was the son of the late Walter and Catherine (Kishbaugh) Harvey. A 1954 graduate of the former Huntington Township High School, he resided in Bloomsburg since 1958.
Richard worked as a truck driver for Dillon Floral Corp., Bloomsburg for 41 years, retiring in 1997.
He served in the US Army from 1956-1958, and in the PA National Guard from 1958-1960.
Richard was a member of Lightstreet United Methodist Church. He enjoyed traveling, country music, riding motorcycles, telling jokes and his morning coffee breaks at McDonalds.
Richard was preceded in death by a sister, Anna M. Franklin on September 19, 1988.
Surviving is his wife, the former Georgiana Rae, with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage on March 16, 2015; a son, Timothy W. Harvey, wife Leslie, Orangeville; a daughter, Linda S., wife of Marlo Fronsman; a granddaughter, Andrea E. Fronsman, all of Bloomsburg; nieces and nephews; and his walking companion Spike, a golden retriever.
Due to Renaissance Day activities in Bloomsburg, Richardâs funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 30 Two and A Half Street, Benton, with his pastor, Rev. Jennifer Parks-Snyder, officiating. Interment in New Columbus Cemetery. Viewing at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.
Flowers will graciously be accepted, or a memorial may be sent to a charity of the donorâs choice.
