Richard F. Klenert
Richard F. Klenert, age 84, 85 Hill St., Benton, died at 7:03 p. m. Thursday, August 7, 2014, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for three weeks.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on May 21, 1930, he was a son of the late Charles and Mary (Lafferty) Klenert.. He resided in Benton since 1994 and formerly lived on Long Island, New York.
Richard was employed as a die cutter at the Shorewood Packaging Co., Farmingdale, Long Island for 27 years, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church, Benton.
Richard enjoyed the outdoors, mowing his lawn, watching John Wayne movies, going on group bus trips and chatting with people. His favorite food was Chinese shrimp rolls.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Margaret Klenert on July 20, 1998; a son, Richard John Klenert on June 1, 1961; four brothers: Jacob Klenert, John Klenert, Charles Klenert, Arthur Frederick Klenert; and two sisters: Ida Snyder and Margaret Staehs.
Richard is survived by his wife, the former Margaret M. Maximchuk, with whom he celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary on April 25, 2014; three children: Michael R. Klenert, West Islip, Long Island; Valerie A. Hooper, Lansdale; Thomas J. Klenert, and his wife Christine, Spring, Texas; seven grandchildren: James, Travis, Lake, Mason, Kimberly, Peter and William; one great-grandson, Darren and a number of nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a. m. in Christ The King Catholic Church, Mendenhall Lane, Benton, by his pastor Rev. David M. Hereshko. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 6-8 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton.,
