Richard D. “Rich” Remley, Jr., age 70, of Main St., Bloomsburg (Lightstreet), passed away on Monday March 4, 2024 at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Scott Township.
Born in Berwick on September 28, 1953, he was the son of Richard D., Sr. and Josephine (Hobbes) Remley. He resided in Lighstreet since 2012 and formerly lived in Espy and Berwick. He was a 1971 graduate of Columbia Montour Vo-Tech School, where he participated in the automotive program.
Rich was last employed by J.M. Smuckers (formerly Heinz) of Lime Ridge for 29 years, retiring in 2017. Earlier he was employed in the automotive department for the former Montgomery Ward store in Berwick, Don’s Auto Parts in Berwick, and the former A&P Market in Berwick.
He was an avid reader. He loved to spend time with his 12 grandchildren. His favorite activity was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Remley.
Surviving is his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Hock, with whom he observed his 22nd wedding anniversary on February 15, 2024; four daughters, Michelle, wife of Steven E. Slusser, of Berwick, Elizabeth M., wife of Donald F. Pursel III, of Berwick, Angela R., wife of George W. Johns, of Bloomsburg, and Lara, wife of Adam Poeppelmeier, of Chicago, IL; 12 grandchildren; three brothers, Stanley Remley, and his wife Cindy, of Northumberland, Walter Remley, and his partner Jan, of Beach Haven, and Kevin Remley, and his wife Pat, of Berwick; two sisters, Kay Sweitzer, of Florida, and Judith, wife of Benton Culver, Sr., of Berwick; and a number of nieces and nephews.
At Rich’s request, there will not be any services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
