Robert P. Becker, age 75, 413 Avenue B, Danville (Riverside), died at 3 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2009 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient since Tueday.

Born in Danville on October 27, 1933, he was a son of the late Fred and Carrie (Lengle) Becker. He resided in Danville and Riverside most of his lifetime.

Bob was a 1952 graduate of Danville High School and also graduated from the Philadelphia Hospital School of Nursing and the Geisinger Medical Center School of Anesthesia. He was employed by Geisinger as the Chief Clinical Coordinator and assistant Chief Nurse of Anesthetics, retiring in 1993.

Following retirement, Bob and his wife traveled extensively. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was a member of the Friendship Fire Co. and the Washington Hose Co. No.2, both of Danville.

Bob served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan.

He was preceded in death by a sister, May Frye and two brothers: Donald Becker and Carl Becker.

Surviving are his wife, the former Shirley A. Young, with whom he celebrated his 55th wedding anniversary on December 28, 2009; three sons: Fred Becker, and his wife Jeanne, Albany, Ore.; Steve Becker, and his wife Oksana, Alexandria, Va.; Rober Becker, Danville; a daughter, Sheri, wife of Todd Oberdorf, Riverside; and five grandchildren: Kristen, Diane and Mark Becker, Albany, Ore. and Brandon and Justin Oberdorf, Riverside.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery. There will be no viewing. Memorials may be sent to the Danville Fishing Derby or to the Danville Community Recreation Center.
