ROBERT W. DUNN

Robert W. Dunn, age 83, 332 Jefferson Street, Bloomsburg, peacefully passed away at 9:20 a. m. Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Bloomsburg Health Care Center, where he was a patient for two weeks. His death followed a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Born on December 22, 1925 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Lawrence A. Dunn and the late Mary (Englert) Dunn Knarr.

After graduation from Lock Haven High School in 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps serving with the 8th Air Force in Central Europe during World War II as a turret gunner and attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Robert was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg for over 50 years. He was very active in the Men of Wesley and the annual spaghetti supper and also delivering Meals On Wheels with his wife Sue and taking part in other Church activities. He also was a founding member of the former Bloomsburg Jaycee Chapter; Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg; the former Bloomsburg Moose Lodge 623; Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436 and the Bloomsburg Fire Department.

He was employed by Sears, Roebuck & Co.; Merck & Co., at there Cherokee Plant in Riverside and finally as office manager of the former Roselon Yarns, Danville.

Surviving are his beloved wife, the former Sue M. Simcox, with whom he celebrated his 62nd wedding anniversary on April 6, 2009; two daughters: Donna Kerstetter, Monteagle, Tenn. and Debora Clark, Fort Worth, Tex; four grandchildren: Wendy, Jonathan, Meredith and Philip; one great-grandson, Christopher; a brother, Donald Dunn, and his wife Janice, Lock Haven; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Jay E. Jones officiating. Interment will be made at the convenience of the family in the Swissdale Community Cemetery near Lock Haven. Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 p. m.
