Robert E. “Bob” Johnson, age 95, 6070 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, died at 6:05 p. m. Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital where he was a patient for two days.
Born in Bloomsburg on March 15, 1921, he was a son of the late John LaRay and Lillie (Carroll) Johnson. He spent his entire life in the Bloomsburg area.
He established Bob Johnson Plumbing & Heating in 1948 and operated it until retiring in 1988.
Bob was a life member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436 and the Columbia Valley Moose Lodge 623.
He served with the US Navy during World War II.
Bob enjoyed fixing and building things. His hobbies were water skiing, boating, snow skiing and snowmobiling.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Marguerite Jeanette Hertz on October 6, 2004; by a brother, John Johnson; and three sisters: O’Dean Johnson, Hazel Hippensteel, and Myrtle Myers.
Bob is survived by a son, Robert L. Johnson, and his wife Jenny, Bloomsburg; a daughter, Linda O., wife of Terry Martz, Wilmington, Del.; three grandchildren: Brooke, wife of George Fay, Clear Brook, Va.; Jason Martz, and his wife Michelle, Newcastle, Del.; Shannon, wife of John Taurozzi, Winchester, Va.; and three brothers: Harry Johnson, Catawissa; Tom Johnson,, and his wife Fran and R. William “Bill” Johnson, both of Bloomsburg.
Private services will be held from the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, followed by entombment in the Garden Mausoleum at Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. There will be no calling hours.
