Robert E. Kressler

Robert E. Kressler, age 74, 755 Cherry St., Bloomsburg, died at his home on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 at 8:15 a.m. He had been seriously ill for two months.

Born on Jan. 3, 1936 in E. Union Twp., Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late James H. and Elizabeth L. (Hughes) Kressler. He resided in the Bloomsburg area for most of his life.

Robert was last employed doing grounds maintenance at Bloomsburg University, retiring in 1997 after 20 years of employment. He previously worked at R.T. French Co., Rochester, New York from 1958-1972.

He served in the U. S. Army as a member of the Sixth Armored Cavalry during the Korean Conflict.

Robert was a good father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, and especially growing tomatoes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Ann (May) Kressler, on May 6, 1999; a granddaughter, Sara Ann Kressler, on Feb. 10, 2009; four brothers: Albert E. Kressler, James Kressler, Lawrence Kressler and Gilbert Kressler; and a sister, Joan Trivelpiece.

He is survived by a son, Raymond P. Kressler, and his companion Marlene Renz, and her son Mitchell Renz, Bloomsburg; a step-son, Robert Hendricks, York; and a grandson, Raymond T. Kressler, Bloomsburg. Also surviving are a number of nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be on Monday at 3 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Allen F. Acor, pastor of the Hendrickson-Mooresburg United Methodist Churches, officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.

Friends may call on Monday from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
