Robert S. “Bob” LeVan, age 89, 11 W. 12th Street, Bloomsburg, died at 6:15 a.m. Friday in the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. His death followed a brief illness.

Born in Bloomsburg on May 6, 1926, he was a son of the late Dr. Stanley L. and Elizabeth (Werkheiser) LeVan.  He spent his entire life in Bloomsburg and was a 1944 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. Following high school he served his country by serving in the US Merchant Marine for two years. He then enrolled at the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College, graduating in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Bob was employed by the former Magee Carpet Co., for 27 years, holding several positions including personnel clerk, assistant personal director, plant superintendent and plant manager. In 1976 he accepted the position of director of the Area Agency on Aging, now know as the Columbia Montour Aging Office, Inc. and retired in 1987.

He was member of the First English Baptist Church; a life member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436;  a 50 year member of Washington Lodge 264, F & AM; and the Valley of Bloomsburg Post 273, American Legion. He also served on the board of directors of the Columbia Montour Agency Office, Inc.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, the former Gladys Kuster on February 23, 1989; his second wife, Elaine Eveland in 1992; a son, David R. LeVan on May 6, 2007; and a brother, Stanley L. LeVan, in 2002.

Surviving are his son, Douglas S. LeVan, at home; his companion of 21 years, L. Alice Bower, Espy;  his daughter in law, Lois LeVan, Bloomsburg; two granddaughters: Roberta Pepe and Daphne LeVan; two great-granddaughters, Hannah and Julee; a nephew, James LeVan, Benton and a niece, Judy LeVan, Arizona.
 
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the First English Baptist Church, 700 Millville Road, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Dr. L. Lee Barnhardt officiating. Interment will follow in the Mifflinville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church from 10-11 a.m.

Flowers will be provided by the family. Friends may remember Bob with a contribution to the Columbia Montour  Aging Office, Inc., 702 Sawmill Road, Suite 201, Bloomsburg, Pa 17815.
