Robert H. Riley, age 93, of 19 Elm St., Danville, died at 7:35 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Emmanuel Center for Nursing, where he had been a guest since October 27, 2020.
Born in Danville on January 23, 1928, he was the son of Lewis D. and Anne (Dietz) Riley. He spent his life in Danville and was a graduate of Danville High School.
He was employed by Merck & Co. at their Cherokee plant in Riverside for 34 years and was a mechanic foreman when he retired in 1982.
Robert was a member of Shiloh United Church of Christ in Danville.
He proudly served his country from 1946 as a member of the U.S. Navy as an electrician’s mate 3rd class on board the U.S.S. Sperry.
Robert was an expert rifle shooter and competed in matches in Pennsylvania and also at the national matches in Camp Perry, OH. In 2006, he won the title of Pennsylvania State Champion Long-Range High-Power Rifle Shooter. He was a lifetime member of the Northumberland and Point Township Sportsman Association. He also served as a little league assistant coach for the CATV team in Danville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, the former Nancy M. Fisk, on September 18, 2016 and also by a brother, Lewis D. Riley, Jr. and a sister, June Riley.
Surviving are three children: Robert Fisk Riley, and his wife Julie, of Danville, Patricia Ann Fallon, of Danville, Richard Edward Riley, and his partner Lori Roberts, of Catawissa; six grandchildren: Nancy Fallon Holt, Andrew Fallon, Bethany Riley-Layton, Robert Riley, Micaela Riley, and Keith Riley; three great-grandchildren: Isla Holt, Aidyn Gray, and Justin Layton; two brothers: David Riley, and his wife Sheilah, of Danville, James Riley and his wife, Katie, of Grand Coulee, WA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at the Shiloh United Church of Christ, 512 Bloom St., Danville, with his pastor, Rev. Mary B. Schmotzer, officiating. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard. Viewing from 11-12 noon.
