Robert S. “Bob†Roach
Robert S. “Bob†Roach, age 75, 39 Village Lane, Berwick, died at 6:03 a. m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center, Bloomsburg, where he was admitted Wednesday evening. He was seriously ill since February.
Born in Newark, N.J. on Oct. 17, 1936, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Bernice M. (Edge) Roach. He resided in the Bloomsburg-Berwick area for the past 30 years.
Bob was a 1955 graduate of Scotch Plains High School, Scotch Plains, N.J. and attended the University of Wyoming for two years in the 1960’s.
He was a self employed truck driver during his working life.
Bob was a member of the Emmanuel Bible Chapel, Berwick, where he served on the Mission Committee, taught the adult Sunday school class and was in charge of the C-D mission.
His hobbies included flying radio controlled airplanes as a member of the Briar Creek Flyers; NASCAR racing and he enjoyed drum and bugle corps music. He was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association, and was a past-president of the Milton chapter.
Bob served with the US Army during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Ginger Styer in April, 2012.
Surviving are his wife, the former Sandra S. Thompson, with whom he celebrated his sixth wedding anniversary on May 6, 2012; two sons: Norman August Roach, Anchorage, AK and Charles Justin Roach, Denver, Colo; a step-son, Brent Edward Wertz, and his wife Kristen, Morgantown, West Va.; two grandchildren and two sisters: Alicemae Christ, Atlanta, Ga. and Norma Leola, wife of Donald Jones, Williston, Fla.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 6 p. m. in the Emmanuel Bible Chapel, 22-B Kachinka Hollow Road, Berwick, with his Pastor Scott Fetterolf and his brother-in-law, Pastor Don Jones officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Monday from 5:30 to 6 p. m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St,., Bloomsburg.
