Robert E. âBobâ Singley, age 84, 15 Klingerville Lane, Bloomsburg, died at 3:05 PM Monday, January 5, 2015 in Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital, where he had been a patient for one week. He was in failing health for two years.
Born in Bloomsburg on September 6, 1930, he was a son of the late Albert and Emma (Beech) Singley. He spent most of his early life in Catawissa before moving to Hemlock Township in 1960.
Bob was an electrician, and was last employed by Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, retiring in 1992; and earlier by the former Magee Carpet Company, Bloomsburg for 26 years.
He was a member of Buckhorn United Methodist Church, where he formerly served as an usher. Bob was a life member of Catawissa VFW Post 8306, and the Buckhorn Community Fire Co.
Bob served with the US Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Margaret Klinger in July 1962; two sisters: Arlene Welkom and Marlo Bradley; and by a brother, John Singley.
Surviving is his wife, the former Dolores J. âDollyâ Dohl, with whom he celebrated 49 years of marriage on June 19, 2014; four sons: Richard A. Plastow, wife Alberta, Louisville, Ohio; Alan D. Plastow, wife Connie; Todd R. Singley, wife Tammy, all of Buckhorn; Timothy E. Singley, wife Stephanie, Winterville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Audrey M. Brosious officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge with military honors performed by the Catawissa VFW Post 8306. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
