Robert L. âBobâ Switzer, age 64, 334 Dodson Cemetery Road, Shickshinny, died at 3:28 a. m. Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, where he was admitted Saturday. He was in failing health since October 26, 2015.
Born in Nanticoke on June 20, 1951, he was a son of the late Charles âBudâ and Ethel B. (Robbins) Switzer. He lived in the Town Hill area of Huntington Township all of his life and was a 1969 graduate of Northwest Area High School.
Bob was last employed by Skovish Pools, Shickshinny, as a truck driver. Earlier he owned Wings & Things in Berwick for a number of years.
He was a member of the Town Hill United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Sylvania Lodge 354, F. & A. M., and the Shick-Shawnee Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, both of Shickshinny.
Bob owned a vegetable stand along Route 239 in Huntington Mills called âWacky Farmer Vegetable Standâ where he sold produce as well as homemade cheese, noodles, cider and maple syrup. He also grew mushrooms, made wine and operated a saw mill.
He is survived by his wife, the former Penny C. Kellum with whom he celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary on July 12, 2015; two sons: Robert C. âRobâ Switzer, Millersville, Md. and Todd Lee Switzer, Moscow, Idaho; a brother, William Charles Switzer, and his wife Deborah, Town Hill; and a nephew, Charles Switzer, Drums.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a. m. in the Town Hill United Methodist Church, 417 Town Hill Road, Shickshinny, with his pastor, Rev. Bethany P. Wood officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Viewing will be held at the Church from 10-11 a. m. with Masonic Memorial services beginning at 9:45 a. m.
