Robertine A. âTeenaâ Peters, age 68, 1220 Market Street, Bloomsburg, died at her home at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 after an illness of two years.
Born in Rochester, New York on July 3, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Ina (Lovejoy) Ritz.
She was a graduate of Wheatland Chili High School, Scotsville, New York, in 1962 and went on to graduate from State University of New York, at Geneseo, N.Y. and Duke University, Durham, North Carolina.
Teena lived in Norway from 1970 to 1990 when she moved to Bloomsburg. She taught English at Millville Area High School for 18 years, retiring in 2011. Following college she taught for several years at Churchill Chili High School in New York.
She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg.
Tina was an excellent teacher and was loved by her students. She was a sophisticated person who loved to travel.
Surviving are her husband, Francis J. âFrankâ Peters, Jr., with whom she celebrated 43 years of marriage on July 5, 2012; four children: Francis J. âChipâ Peters, III, and his companion Laurie Pierce, South Windsor, CT; Nicholas Peters, and his wife Shari and Sarah Peters, and her companion Ali, both of Philadelphia; Michael Peters, New Hope, PA, a grandson, Ian Peters, Conn.; a granddaughter, Lucy Isabelle Peters, Philadelphia; brother, Steven P. Ritz, Cincinnati, Ohio; and a sister, Paula, wife of Thomas Ralston, Everett, Wash.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg, by her pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. There will be no calling hours.
