On Friday, June 7th, Ronald R. Fetterman, age 84, of Bloomsburg went with our Lord in peace. Ronald was born August 13th, 1939 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, to Allen R and Violet A Fetterman of Wilburton No.2.
Growing up in the coal regions, hunting was a favorite sport which he enjoyed very much. Ron also enjoyed playing soccer and baseball for the local school teams. While attending Con-Cen High School, he met the ”Most Wonderful Girl in the World”, Suzanne C Hoffman. After graduating High School, Ron would head out to Altoona, and eventual graduation from Penn State University.
Ron and Suzie would marry on September 5th, 1959 and move to Burlington, North Carolina where Ron started his career as a draftsman with Bell Labs. The Army would soon call on Ronald and they found themselves half way across the United States at Fort Riley, Kansas. It was here that their first born, Steven Fetterman, came into the world.
After Ronald’s service was completed, they moved back to North Carolina for a few years before moving to the Danville area. Ron took a position with TRW in the engineering department. A Year later, their 2nd son, David Fetterman, Bloomsburg, was born and they moved into a new home in Bloomsburg, creating a loving home filled with a lifetime of memories.
His career path would lead him to the Textron Corporation, in Danville, engineering compressor blades for both military and commercial jet engines.
Ron was very active in supporting his son’s activities, especially when it came to the Boy Scouts of America. He volunteered his time, even after his sons were no longer involved. Ron would end up serving over 40 years with the scouts.
Ronald was proceded in death by Suzanne, his loving wife of 61 years as well as his parents. He is survived by his brother John Fetterman and wife Cookie Evans-Fetterman and reside in Dallas, and a sister, Shirley Sladko of Florida.
