Rosa T. Frei
Rosa T. Frei, age 97, formerly of Berwick, died at 8:48 a. m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Mountain City Nursing Home, Hazleton, where she resided for the past 10 years.
Born in New York City on June 2, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Dominick and Constance Sophia (Nilsen) Dovico. She resided in Berwick from 1980 until 2003 when she entered the nursing home.
Rosa was a graduate of Teaneck High School, Teaneck, N.J.
Early in her life she was employed by the former Bell Telephone Co., in New York City and later she was employed in the Green Thumb Program at Bloomsburg University and at the 14th Street Elementery School in Berwick..
Rosa attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Berwick and the Berwick Senior Center while she resided in Berwick. At the nursing home, she will be remembered for the slippers and blankets she crocheted for the other guests. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of whom she was especially proud.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Frei, in 1984 and by a son, Richard L. Frei.
Rosa is survived by a daughter, Beverly A. Galler, Espy; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg. Viewing on Tuesday from 1-2 p. m.
