ROSE MARIE DePOE
Rose Marie DePoe, age 77, 23 Walnut Street , Bloomsburg (Fernville) died at 2:40 a. m. Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient for six days. She was in failing health for one year.
Born in Bloomsburg on July 26, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Hester (Faus) Fogle. She resided in the Fernville area most of her life.
Rose was a 1952 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.
She was employed by Bloomsburg University on the custodial staff for 24 years, retiring in 1993. . Earlier she was employed by the former Magee Carpet Co. for 14 years.
Rose was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She also served as a volunteer in the Church office and participated in many other activities. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and participated in the silver sneakers program at the YMCA. She also picked up food weekly at Giant Markets for Agape and the Bloomsburg Food Pantry.
Surviving is her husband, George W. DePoe, with whom she celebrated her 56th wedding anniversary on July 3, 2010; three sons: George Wesley DePoe, Jr., and his wife Carol, Bloomsburg; Frank T. DePoe, and his wife Lori, Cheyene, Wyoming; Martin L. DePoe, and his wife Allisa, Bloomsburg; five grandchildren: Wesley Alan DePoe, Stacy R., wife of Andrew Fisher, Scott A. DePoe, all of Bloomsburg; Christopher DePoe and Courtney DePoe, Catawissa; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Jean Kapp, Danville and Ruth, wife of Thomas Webster, Sharpstown, Md.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Margaret Kashner, Kathryn L. Snyder, Mary Kashner; and by two brothers: John Fogle and Wilbur Fogle.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. in the Wesley United Methdoist Church, W. Third & Market Sts., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Jay E. Jones officiating. Private interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
There will be no calling hours.
