Ruth B. Behrent

Ruth B. “Mickey” Behrent, age 83, Danville, died at 10:10 a. m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the Grandview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Danville, where she was a guest since March, 2015.

Born on June 21, 1933 in Shamokin, she was a daughter of the late Paul R., Sr., and Ruth A. (Brown) Jones. Her early life was spent in Shamokin where she was a 1951 graduate of Shamokin Area Joint High School. She resided in Danville for over 50 years.

Early in her life she was employed by the former Weller Vending Machine Co., Shamokin, and later was the bookkeeper for several family businesses, including the former Behrent Vending Service, retiring in 2003.

She was a longtime member of the St. James United Church of Christ, Ridgeville.

Mickey enjoyed gardening, bowling, camping, traveling and playing golf.. Her whole life was about her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alan R. Behrent, Sr., on October  17, 2015; a sister, Sara E. Bramhall; and two brothers: Paul R. Jones, Jr. and Donald B. Jones, Sr..

Surviving are three sons: Alan R. Behrent, Jr., Benton; Scott A. Behrent, and his wife Cathy, Pittsfield, Mass.; Dale R. Behrent, and his wife Lisa, Catawissa; seven grandchildren: Ashley, wife of Tom Scherben; Shaun Behrent; Valentin Behrendt;  Meghan Behrent; Trevor Behrent; Tyler Behrent; Jamie Behrent; two great-granddaughters: Ruthie Scherben and Penny Scherben;  and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a. m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with her pastor, Rev. Richard Shearer officiating. Interment will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. Friends may call on Friday from 10-11 a. m.
