Ruth A. Carlough, age 91, Bloomsburg, died at her home on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 9:45 a. m. while under the care of Columbia Montour Home Hospice.
Born in Main Township on September 10, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Warren Robert and Ida (Young) Mauser.
Ruth graduated from the former Mifflin Township High School in 1942 and attended the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College, where she met her future husband, Harry A. Carlough, of Paterson, New Jersey. They were married in 1944 and he preceded her in death in June, 1999.
She was a longtime resident of Princeton, N.J., moving to Bloomsburg in 2007.
Ruth was employed for many by years as a cashier at the Irving Trust Co., New York City and in later years, she was employed by her church as the supervisor of buildings and grounds.
She was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Princeton, N.J.
Ruth was an avid gardener and always had beautiful flower gardens where ever she lived. She was well know for her flower arrangements at her church. She also designerd and sewed many banners and paraments for the church.
Surviving is a sister, Miriam (Mauser) Rhody, Catawissa.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
