Ruth O. Malin, age 93, formerly of W. Ninth Street, Bloomsburg, died at 9:57 a. m. Sunday, Feb. 24 in RiverWoodâs nursing facility in Lewisburg, where she resided since May, 2008.
Born in Springmont, Montgomery County, on March 10, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Katie (Fulmer) Hendricks. Her step-father was the late Lloyd Mountz.
Ruth was a graduate of Reading High School in 1936 and also attended Albright College, Reading. She resided in Bloomsburg since 1984.
She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg. She also was member of the advisory council for the Area Agency on Aging and did volunteer work for them also.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles M. Malin, a retired United Methodist Minister, on March 9, 1985; by a sister, Eleanor Lambert; and a brother, Rev. William Hendricks.
Surviving are a son, Vernon C. Malin, and his wife Sarah, Bloomsburg; a daughter, Heidi L. Love, wife of Dennis Jud, Portsmouth, New Hampshire; three grandchildren: Amy Malin, Adam Malin and Nico Catano. She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at 10 a. m. in Wesley United Methodist Church, W. Third & Market Streets, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Gary D. Weaver officiating. Interment in Friedenâs Union Cemetery, Sumneytown, Montgomery County at 2 p. m. The family will receive friends at the Church from 9:30 to 10 a. m. Please use West Third Street entrance.
