Salvatore J. Marrazzo

Salvatore John Marrazzo, age 84, passed away on June 30, 2016 with his wife, Ida at his side. A devout Roman Catholic, he now rests in peace with our Lord, our God, Jesus Christ. Dad will be missed by all.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 30, 1931, he was a son of the late Fioravanti and Vincenza (Gambardella) Marrazzo.

Sal retired from the New York City Transit Authority, and in 1984 he and Ida opened and operated Marrazzo’s Pizza in Wyalusing until 1998 when they relocated to Buckhorn to be close to their children.

Dad was a Korean war veteran. He enjoyed watching Fox news, discussing politics and religion, and was a strong supporter of the second amendment. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. He liked playing the PA lottery daily, and was always quick to tell jokes to all, even though they were not always politically correct.

He enjoyed holidays and any event that brought his family all together; and he was the grandparent who taught all of the grandchildren how to play seven card rummy and poker without wild cards; and of course, he loved Mom’s Italian cooking.

Surviving is his loving wife, the former Ida Amato, whom he married on July 21, 1956; four children: Sally A., wife of Gary Shipierski, Mountain Top; Salvatore F. Marrazzo, wife Tracy, Dimock; Michael J. Marrazzo, wife Theresa, New Tripoli and Anthony J. Marrazzo, wife Rebekah L., Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren: Tony and Maria Morgante; Annilese, Alex, Gina, Michael, Luke and Alexis Marrazzo.

Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Viewing at the funeral home tonight (Friday) from 6-8 p.m., with a time of prayer and reflection at 7:45 p.m.
