Samuel B. Robb, Jr., age 68, 42 Pepper Hills, Danville, died at 5:20 a. m. Monday, December 8, 2014 at the Watsontown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Watsontown, where he was a patient for four days. He was in failing health for several years.
Born in Latrobe, Westmoreland County, on December 20, 1945, he was a son of the late Marjorie Lewis, and resided in the Danville area for 43 years. He was a 1963 graduate of the Derry High School, Westmoreland County.
Sam was a career truck driver, last working for Metropolitan Trucking Co. for 12 years, retiring in 2007.
Sam was known as âSmiling Samâ on the C-B radio and enjoyed talking about truck driving to his friends and family. He cherished the time spent with his family, loved animals and loved working crossword puzzles. He was a member of the East Fire Co., Danville.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Lana Bialas in 1980.
Sam is survived by his wife, the former Betty M. Oberdorf, whom he married on December 31, 1981; three daughters: Donna L. Anderson, Milton; Tracey L. Lepley and Daniâel M., wife of Dewayne English, both of Danville; three grandchildren; a sister, Beverly, wife of Ralph Neiderhiser, Ridgeland, South Carolina; and two brothers: David Robb, and his wife Theresa, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. And Joseph Robb, and his wife Betty.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville.
