Samuel (Sam) Edward Faux Jr. of Shickshinny Valley, passed away on Friday, Nov 22, 2024 in Danville, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Danville on February 28, 1937 a son of the late Samuel Norman Faux, Sr. and Mae (Keefer) Chappell of Danville. Sam (or Junior as he was known to many of his nieces and nephews) lived in Danville for the early part of his life.
He joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After returning from Germany, he married the love of his life, Lois Elaine Frantz, of Danville, on September 21, 1958. They were married for 51 years at the time of her passing on November 14, 2009.
While living in Danville, he worked for the Cabinet Works until moving to the Shickshinny area where Sam and Lois raised their five children. He worked at Bercon Packaging (later Consolidated Container) as a forklift driver until his retirement. After his retirement, to stay active and out of Lois’s way, he worked as a part-time custodian for the Northwest Area School District for 10 years.
Sam was an avid fisherman and hunter, a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, a champion horseshoe player, and he loved music and dancing. Whenever Elvis, Shania, Luke Bryant, or his other favorite singers came on, you could catch him singing along with them, and if you were lucky, he would grab your hand and give you a whirl. Everyone was in for a treat when Wipeout was played at wedding receptions and parties – he was guaranteed to put on a show.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents (Samuel Sr and Mae), his wife (Lois), his sons (Donnie (Gehers) and Brian Faux), and his son in law (Michael Hummell).
He is survived by: his three daughters, Tammy (Clair) Kashner of Danville, Faith Hummell of Shickshinny, Kay (James) Robinson of Ashburn, VA, and daughter in law Betty Ann Faux, Shickshinny; His grandchildren Sasha (Daniel) Roble of Enola, Joshua (Amber Davis) Canouse of Berwick, Samijo (Tyson) Matthews of Shickshinny, Katie (Jeffrey) Lynn Jr. of Shickshinny, Haley Faux of Shickshinny, Caitlin (Cameron Rittenhouse) Faux of Mocanaqua, Trey Faux of Shickshinny, Andrew and Nathan Robinson of Ashburn, VA, step granddaughter Nicole (Harry Bell) Armour of Freeburg;11 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
