Samuel D. âSamâ Hahn, age 95, formerly of Fisher Court, Danville, died at 5:33 a. m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Grandview Health Homes, Danville, where he was a patient since Sept., 2008.
Born in Danville on August 7, 1917, he was a son of the late James L. and Isabella M. (Thomas) Hahn. He resided in Danville his entire life and attended the Danville public schools.
Sam was employed by Merck & Co., at their Cherokee Plant in Riverside for 21 years, retiring in 1973.
A Mason, he belonged to Danville Lodge 224, F & AM; Danville Royal Arch Chapter 239; Calvary Commandery; and Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg. He was a life member of the Goodwill Fire Co. #4, Danville and the oldest member in age, and served as Danville Fire Chief in 1955-56. He also was a life member of the Danville Moose Lodge and a member of the Danville Elks Lodge 754; American Legion Post 840, Montandon; Danville VFW Post 298; and the Goodwill Hunting Club.
Sam served with the US Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former, Blanche G. Jones on January 1, 2004; and by three sisters: Ethel Mausteller, Mae Armstrong and Sally Kressler.
Surviving are eight nephews and one niece.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a. m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with the Rev. Edmund W. Minnich, retired United Methodist minister officiating. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville, with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 40, Honor Guard, Danville. Friends may call at the funeral home form 10-11 a. m.
