SARA E. NEWHART
Sara E. "Betty" Newhart, age 86, 219 E. Tenth St., Bloomsburg, died at 9:05 a. m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the Columbia-Montour Home Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville, where she was a patient since August 1, 2009.
Born in Hazleton on July 14, 1923, she was the youngest of five children born of the late James and Annie (George) Gill. She resided in the Bloomsburg area since 1938 and was a graduate of the former Scott Township High School in 1941.
.She was employed as an accountant/bookkeepeer by the former Bloom Penn Contractors, Bloomsburg, retiring in 1988.
Betty was a member of the Bloomsburg Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, having been batised into membership in 1964.
She loved animals and traveling. Her smile and good nature will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Newhart on October 16, 1988 and by two sons: Richard E. Newhart and James Newhart.
Surviving are a son, Glen Allen Newhart, and his wife Linda, Durham, N.C.; a daughter, Beatrice Anne, wife of John R. French, at home; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edward Gill, Allentown.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
