Sarah I. Ford

Sarah I. Ford, age 88, 300 Third St., Benton, died at her home at 1:25 a. m. on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, after being in failing health for the past year.

Born on May 15, 1923 in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of the late Joseph I. and Sarah (Jeirles) Hamilton.  She resided in Benton since 1960.

Sarah was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and embroidery work. She also was fond of her animals and especially her dog, Belle.

She was preceded in death by two husbands: Ralph M. Adams, on Dec. 17, 1963 and L. Glenn Ford on  March 21, 1999; two sons: Maynard M. Adams on April 15, 1988 and Ellis Adams in April, 2005; a daughter,  Martha Gower in Feb., 2008; and three infant grandchildren.

Surviving are six children: Connie Burrell, Medford, Ore.; Bonnie J. Burkhart, Orangeville; Loyed “Butch” Adams, Millville; Anna Steele, Rauchtown; Alice, wife of George Force, Jr., Benton, Donna K. Adams, who resided with her and was her caregiver; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of a family of 16 children.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service,  Benton,, with the Rev. Darwin C. Goshorn, pastor of the Orangeville United Methodist Charge officiating. Interment in Pine Summit Cemetery, Franklin Township, Lycoming County. Friends may call on Monday from 1 - 2 p. m.
