SARAH I. KELLUM
Sarah I. Kellum, age 87, 1188 State Route 239, Huntington Mills, died at 2:30 p. m. Friday April 20, 2012 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient for six days. She was in failing health for several years.
Born at Fisherdale, Cleveland Township on July 10, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Victor and Goldie (Artley) Rupp. She graduated from the former Locust Township High School in 1942 and resided in Huntington Mills since July, 1950.
Prior to her marriage she was employed by Honeywell & Brown Instrument Co., Philadelphia. Later she worked at the former Brozman's Dress Shop, Bloomsburg, J. C. Penney, Wilkes-Barre and as the first head cook at the Bonham Nursing Center, Register.
Sarah was a member of the Town Hill United Methodist Church.
She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the world. In her leisure time she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, crocheting, and word puzzles.
Surviving are her husband, James C. Kellum, with whom she celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Nov. 23, 2011; four children: Penny C., wife of Robert Switzer, Town Hill; Pamela I., wife of Lon Fadley, Manassas, Va.; James C. Kellim, Jr., and his wife, Rosalind, Chesapeake Beach, Md.; Hope E., wife of Jay Welsh, Berwick; eight grandchildren: Rob Switzer, Todd Switzer, Lon Fadley, Jr., Ethan Fadley, James C. Kellum, III, Matthew Kellum, Holly Welsh and Jade Welsh; two great-grandchildren: Avery Kellum and Hannah Kellum.
Sarah is also survived by five sisters: Gloria Rupp, Bloomsburg; Jean Hoppy, Benton; Dolores Herring, Elysburg; Patricia, wife of James Lang, Ocala, Fla.; Ruby, wife of Donald Herring, Macungie. There are also numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Holly Mae Kellum on July 20, 1977; by three sisters: Leah Rupp, Alma Morton, Efie Webb; and by two brothers: John Rupp and Glen Rupp.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p. m. in the Town Hill United Methodist Church, 417 Town Hill Road, Shickshinny, with her pastor, Rev. Bethany P. Wood officiating. Interment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Friends may call at the Church on Monday from 1-2 p. m.
