SARAH C. âSADIEâ LONG
Sarah C. âSadieâ Long, age 83, 313 Water Street, Danville, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday, May 23, 2013 at her home.
Born in Danville on July 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Ann (Schultz) Jenkins. A 1947 graduate of Danville High School, she had resided in Danville all her life.
Sadie was last employed at the Montour County Board of Assistance, retiring in 1986. Formerly she worked in the revenue office at the Danville State Hospital, and before that as an operator for the former Bell Telephone Company.
She was the longest living member of Grove Presbyterian Church, Danville; and was also a member of the Danville Chapter O.E.S. Sadie was active in the Republican party, and was a former Montour County Committee Woman.
Sadie was an avid traveler, and was still involved with her Class of 1947 meetings and luncheons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy A. Long on October 6, 1990; and by a daughter, Pamela Kay Long-Malkoski on April 29, 2007.
Surviving is a son, Scot F. Long, wife Gail, Bloomsburg; grandsons: Brandon Long, wife Michelle, Muncy and Bhrett Long, wife Britany, Mifflinville; great-granddaughter, Evangeline Long; and son-in-law, Alfred L. âAlâ Malkoski, Jr., Danville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with her pastor, Rev. Robert J. Andrews officiating. Interment in Reformed Cemetery, Danville. Family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m.
